Proud Senior, Brylee Holmes, one of many 2022 seniors, was the first student who introduced herself to me when I arrived at the high school for a tour on Friday AND made a point to find me and introduce herself to me again at the fundraiser on Saturday! She exudes a positive spirit and has served as homecoming queen. I'm sure she is one of many leaders in TISD, and I can't wait to meet you all. Dr. Elna Davis Superintendent
The M Club fundraiser in Tarkington this weekend was AMAZING! Funds raised will help EVERY senior with college/career plans after graduation. The love in the arena for the students was inspiring. The generosity of our community took my breath away. Tarkington ISD not only has great friends in our board members, but also has friends in life-long residents devoted to our success. I learned from a board member in Grand Prairie that the way you spell LOVE is T-I-M-E. There was so much love in the arena as you gave your time, talents, and resources for our students! In action, I saw Longhorns for Life! Dr. Elna Davis Superintendent

TISD Family, Friends, and Community, Please join us on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 4 PM in the THS Commons as we show our appreciation to one of our own, Dr. Marc Keith, as he retires after 40 years in education! Dr. Keith graduated from Tarkington High School in 1978, and spent some of his early years here as a teacher, coach, and administrator. As Providence would have it, he returned home in 2018 as our Superintendent and led our community through the turbulent times of a pandemic where his commitment to -- and understanding of -- our rural technology limitations, students' academic and social needs for classrooms, and our teachers' needs to teach safely, all helped to return our community back to the focus of "doing what's best for students," where we all agree it should always be! Dr. Keith's family will also be joining us for refreshments and fellowship. For those of you who may have memories to share, we've started a memory album and are compiling photos into a slideshow. Please scan and share them with us using the contact information below if you would like them added. Include names, dates, etc. If you have any photos, questions, or would like further information, please contact Renee Padgett at firstname.lastname@example.org or LaLa Clopton at email@example.com We look forward to seeing you all there!
On behalf of the sponsors for TMS and THS FFA, a special "thank you" to Dr. Marc Keith --a former TISD FFA member himself--for serving as last night's guest speaker at the FFA Ricebelt District Convention held in the TMS auditorium.

Dear TPS Staff: You are the embodiment of people whose careers are truly a calling, and your dedication, tenacity, and commitment to students are priceless! We appreciate you for all that you do! CONGRATULATIONS to Tarkington Primary School for their outstanding academic improvement. As you’re all aware, primary schools with a PK-3 campus are unfairly represented in our current accountability system–their ratings are reported solely on the two days in April when 3rd graders take a reading test and a math test. In September of 2019, Tarkington Primary received an accountability rating of F overall, and Comprehensive Improvement was required. This meant the creation of a District Coordinator of School Improvement to oversee all administrative operations, the creation of a Targeted Improvement Plan (TIP), a TEA monitor who requires quarterly meetings to review and discuss the TIP, mandatory trainings for all Instructional Team Leaders–who are campus administrators and teachers–, hours and hours of data meetings to strategically target areas of achievement gaps, implement best practices in teaching strategies, evaluate their effectiveness, and repeat …. And just when processes and procedures were taking hold with a Reading Coach, data-driven instruction meetings, and additional intervention for students…COVID hit in March, just 6 months into the turn-around. In 2019-2020, TPS lost its opportunity to show any improvement in spite of our concerted efforts and commitments. We were crushed…but a shot of inspiration arrived just in time! After leading Tarkington High School and supporting the graduating class of 2020 under COVID constraints, Mrs. Lisa Stephens decided she needed to take TPS’s accountability F and make it an A…and that’s just where she’s headed! In April of 2021, the campus had 100% of 3rd graders take the STAAR math and reading tests. When results came in and we saw huge improvements in reading and math, we were ecstatic…but it would be months, fall of 2021 actually, before we would learn that we were actually going to receive the ACCEPTABLE rating we’d earned and the chance to break consecutive years of monitoring! The time has finally arrived for us to CELEBRATE OUR TARKINGTON PRIMARY PRINCIPAL, TEACHERS, STAFF, STUDENTS, AND PARENTS FOR AN AMAZING-JOB-WELL-DONE!! https://txschools.gov/schools/146907101/overview
Our latest information from AT&T is that the phone lines should be working by 10 PM tonight. They are working on a "remote cable repair."
